Indian Punjab-Moga Road Accident Killed 17

Newspaper reports said that 17 people, including five children and five women, were killed in the early hours of Monday (today) when a truck collided with a jeep near Moga town , about 170 km away from
Chandigarh in the Indian Punjab.
Police sources said that the head-on collision between the truck and the jeep took place at 2 AM on Ludhiana-Ferozpur road killing 14 people on the spot. Three injured died in the hospital they were taken in. The victims were reported to be coming back after their religious visit to a shrine in Nanaksar near Jagraon town.
Police official said the speeding truck, attempting to over take another vehicle, rammed into the jeep. “"All the occupants travelling in the jeep were killed in the accident,". The truck driver managed to make his escape from the spot, the news report said.
