Six Indian Freed By Somali Pirates, Thankful To  Pakistan

Karachi June 13, 2011,

Six Indian crew and their family members have thanked Ansari Burny and the Governor  of Sindh for obtaining their release from the Somali Pirates after 10 months of captivity. They expressed their desire  to come to Pakistan and pay their thanks in person to Ansar Burney and the Governor Sindh, Dr Ishratul Ibad.

Ansar Burney told them it was not required but he would try to arrange their visit to Pakistan just for a joy trip.

The merchant vessel MV Suez and its 22 member crew have been released by the Somali Pirates after payment of $2.1 in ransom. Out of the 22 released 11 were Egyptian, 1 Sri Lankan, 4 Pakistanis and 6 Indians. The 22 member crew would take a couple of days to reach their originating port.

Meanwhile Ansar Burney disclosed that the Indian philanthropists backed out at the last moment, and did not pay a penny causing delay in the deal with the pirates. The governor Sindh mobilized resources for the release of all the hostages and proved that “we believe in humanity”.

He said the release of Indian hostages was a gesture of goodwill from the people and government of Pakistan and now it was up to the Indian leadership to adopt the path of friendship, instead of acrimony, said a news report.
