Osama Killing Under Study By UNHCR
Geneva May 4, 2011
UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay is
reported to be studying details of the American military operation that killed
Osama bin Laden in his hide out in Abbottabad during Sunday-Monday night and the event is under
scrutiny.
She said "I note that the United States has
clearly stated that their intention was to arrest bin Laden if they could, I
fully understand that this was always likely to have been difficult,"
United States had earlier said that Bin Laden was
unarmed when the US forces shot him dead. US officials failed to explain why he
was shot dead and not captured alive while he was unarmed.
High Commissioner Pillay said: "If he was
captured and brought before a court I have no doubt he would have been charged
with the most serious crimes, including the mass murder of civilians on 9/11,
which were planned and systematic and amounted to crimes against
humanity."
