Harish Manwani Appointed As UNILEVER Global COO

New Delhi June 25, 2011

Harish Manwani has been appointed as the  Chief Operating Officer of the world's second-largest consumer goods company ‘UNILEVER’ , said a news report.

The post of COO was newly created as Paul Polman, the Chief Executive Officer of UNILEVER
said on Friday  "About 56% of Unilever's revenue comes from outside the US and Europe now; by 2020, it will be 70-75%. We have to shift our thinking from New York to New Delhi."

Polman paid tributes to the fastest-growing Indian markets and its managers.  He said: “Economic power, led by India and China, is rapidly shifting from the West to the East. Are we preparing for the next billion? Their consumers will be more and more demanding,"

Polman was talking in meeting with WPP boss Sir Martin Sorrell at the Cannes ad festival on Friday.

Harish Manwani is presently operating as head of the   Unilever's Asia, Africa and central and Eastern Europe sections. He is the non-executive chairman of Hindustan Unilever. He is likely to take up his new position of COO from 1st September. Surat builder now owns the Ferrari presented to Sachin Tendulkar by Michael Schumacher on behalf of Fiat in 2002 when he equalled Sir Don Bradman's record of 29 Test
