Military Helicopter Crashed Killed 5 In Pakistan

Islamabad June 1, 2011
A military helicopter crashed into river Indus near Layyah district in the morning of Wednesday killing all five on board including the crew member. The helicopter belonged to the Punjab Ranger and was flying to Peshawar from Dera Ghazi Khan.

Initial report said that the helicopter pilot came  in contact with the tower at 10-30 A.M reporting a bad weather and that he was turning back.  He lost contact after that. The helicopter was reported to have
crashed in the River Indus near Layyah.

The report said that Lt.Col AmirAbbas was flying the chopper with   Major-General Mohammad Nawaz, director general of the Punjab Rangers and other four on board.

Rescue workers were sent to the crash site with divers from Mangla base. Two bodies have been recovered and search operation for other three  is going on.

The cause of the crash is not known except that the chopper was hit by bad weather condition.
