India Signed To Buy howitzer Field guns From US

New Delhi May 12

India has struck a deal on Saturday to buy 145 howitzer guns worth $560-million from BAE Systems of the United States as part of plan to upgrade its military hardware in face of China and Pakistan, said a news report.

Talking to a news agency, Indian Defense Ministry officials said   "The contract for the ultra-light howitzers was
awarded on Friday to BAE Systems Inc of the United States, a unit of Britain-based BAE Systems.”

The official disclosed that India plans to spend 30 Billion rupees to equip its army with the howitzer field guns. The howitzer guns can target enemy position far at 17 miles or 30 kilometers.

India is prepared to spend as much as 1.93 trillion rupees on acquiring latest combat aircrafts, submarines and land force hardware, the news report said.
