President Zardari Barred from Political Activity

Lahore High Court through its judgment issued on Thursday morning has barred Asif Ali Zardari, President of Pakistan from taking part in any political activity since he is holding a neutral office of the head of state of Pakistan.
A petition was filed by and eminent lawyer A.K.Dogar pleading that Asif Ali Zardari is the President of
Pakistan and at the same time he was holding the office of Co-Chairman Pakistan People Party. Dogar pleaded that Zardari being the PPP co-chairperson was serving the party interests along with being the president which was in direct violation of Article 41 (1) of the constitution and therefore he could not hold two offices at the same time.

A four member bench of the Lahore High Court in a detailed 35-page judgment issued on Thursday morning directed Asif Ali Zardari, the president of Pakistan not to take part in any political activity and maintain his neutral status of a head of state.
