Shahid Afiridi Retires From International Cricket

Pakistan cricket team’s present management under the most controversial Board Chairman, Ijaz Butt scored yet another kill after Shoaib Akhter when Shahid Afridi, the flamboyant and lovable announced his retirement from international cricket.

During the world cup this year, Shoaib Akhter was shown the door with an unexpected disgrace. The typical intrigues, grudges, personal likings and dislikings dominant in Pakistan Cricket Board for years kept Shoaib Akhter away from world cup matches. He was forced to opt for retirement to safe himself from any future humiliation.

This time the player is Shahid Afridi, angered and dismayed he said on Monday “I cannot work with the people who find it difficult to tolerate statements in favour of cricket,” -------“the duty of a coach is to work 
for the welfare and in favour of team.”

Further he said "It is nothing short of an honor for me that Pakistan played world cup semifinal under my captaincy,"

According to sources, Afridi’s differences with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) over some issues relating to the coach Waqar Yunus led to his retirement.

Shahid Afirdi said that it was difficult for him to play under a cricket board, which does not pay respect to senior players, said a local TV channel.
