Shahid Afridi Removed AS Captain For ODI
KARACHI: May 19, 2011
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced its decision to remove Shahid Afridi from captaincy for the oncoming one day series against Ireland.
Addressing a press conference in Thursday in Islamabad, Chairman of the board Ijaz Butt said that senior batsman Misbah-ul-Haq would be the captain for the two one-day matches against Ireland scheduled to be played on May 28 and 30.
Ijaz Butt said “Afridi has been retained as a player in the one-day squad but the captaincy has gone to Misbah,"
In the recent series in West Indies, Shahid Afridi has lead the team for a 3-2 wins against the West Indian. Ijaz Butt did not explain any reason as to why Afridi was removed.
