Mamta Banerjee Becomes West Bengal Chief Minister

Mamata Banerjee, aged 55, has become the first women chief minister of Indian province of west Bengal after she took oath on Friday. MK Narayan,the Governor of West Bengal administered the oath in a ceremony held at  the RajBhawan. Mamta is the first non-Left chief minister of West Bengal in 34 years, news reports said.
Mamta  Banarjee successfully formed a coalition government with 38-member Trinamool Congress- Congress coalition government.

Earlier on her way to the Raj Bhawan she was greeted by a huge crowed jubilating on her success, Mamta said "This is your day. It is you who are going to Raj Bhavan today. I am just representing a wish. For the next seven days I will not see anybody. I will work day and night, even on weekends, to sort out certain issues. After that I will start seeing you again, once a week. My doors will be open for you,"
She announced that her first step after taking  over the office of the CM would be to return 400 acres of land to farmers in Singur, where her campaign was successful against Tatas who were forced to abandon setting up a Nano plant in the area.
