US Advises Green Card Holders To Become Citizens
LOS ANGELESE:  May 27, 2011
United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) have called upon the Green Card holders to become American citizens, a news report said.
A campaign has been launched by the USCIS to convince the seven million green card holder to become
naturalized and get more benefits. They will be persuaded through Public Education and Awareness Initiatives including radio and television advertisements, news papers and Internet dissemination.

Mariana Gitomer, the USCIS spokesperson said: "It's very important for people who are already permanent residents to consider citizenship for all the benefits that that will bring them,"

Gitomer further said  "There are many reasons why people don't become citizens, some people don't know the benefits and feel that if they already have a residence card they can work, they can travel, then they feel they don't need citizenship,"-----"But citizenship gives them the benefit of voting, obtaining a US passport to travel without restrictions, obtain better jobs”

According to Mariana Gitomer, a fund of $11 million has already been allocated for the campaign by the Federal Congress.  The campaign will last for three years.
