6.6 magniude  Earthquake sruck  Papua New Guinea

 SYDNEY: A 6.6-magnitude earthquake struck hit the New Britain coast of Papua New Guinea on Thursday, the USGS officials  said but issued no tsunami warning.

The US Geological Survey officials said it was a shallow quake at just 21 kilometers (13 miles),
while the Geosciences Australia said it was 37 kilometers.

The quake hit 175 kilometers (109 miles) east of Kandrian on New Britain and 577 kilometers northeast of the capital Port Moresby.

Geosciences Australia said that it was benign, no damage has so far been reported. About 50% of the total 61,000 candidates who had taken the exam have been able to secure minimum passing marks. This means that about 30,000 students are eying
