Afridi Bought NOC For 4.5 Mln, No Apolgy To PCB

Afridi Bought NOC For 4.5 Mln, No Apology To PCB

SLAMABAD:  June 16

Shahid Afridi bought a ‘No Objection Ticket’ worth 4.5 million rupees to play county and other cricket tournament after he appeared before the disciplinary committee of the Pakistani cricket board as per the deal on Thursday. Afridi said that he accepted his mistake but would not apologise to the PCB because he was forced to take the step he took.

Afridi had earlier announced his retirement on his removal from the captaincy and other complaints against the present set up of PCB under Ijazz Butt as its head. In response, PCB had reacted sharply imposing sanctions on Afridi sending a wave of resentment amongst the people who admired him.

Afridi challenged board’s action in the Sindh High Court. His petition was accepted for hearing and board officials were asked to appear before the court on the 16th of June.
.
Forces behind Ijazz Butt feared more damages to Ijazz Butt him than to Afridi once the High Court started hearing. They maneuvered Ijazz Butt and Afridi to sit together and settle the matter out of the court.

Ijaz Butt and Afridi had a meeting on Tuesday in presence of government officials and a group of politicians and came out after striking a deal.

Afridi withdrew his case from the high court and appeared before the disciplinary committee
on Thursday. The Board  issued him a no objection certificate to play in the Hampshire county and other tournaments after imposing a fine of rupees 4.5 million.
