Fire Killed Five Egyptians In AL-Ain, Abu Dhabi


Abu Dhabi June 17

A fire broke out in a house at Abu Samrah on Abu Dhabi-Al Ain Highway, 65km away from Al Ain Thursday morning when the inmates were fast asleep. Five of the six member Egyptian family lost their lives in the incident, a news report said.

The Civil Defense officials said that, a 28-year-old woman and her four children — two sons aged 10 and two, and two daughters aged five and three — died in the Tawam Hospital in Al Ain.

Acting Director-General of Civil Defense and Director of Emergency Management, Colonel Mohammed Abdullah Al Nuaimi said:

“They died of suffocation after inhaling heavy smoke that spread from the kitchen into the two bedrooms they were sleeping in. Immediately after receiving the news, fire-fighting, ambulances and paramedic teams were rushed to the site for the rescue and safety of the residents in the house,”

He said that the victims were taken to the Tawam Hospital but they died of heavy inhalation of smoke.

The head of the family awakened and tried to put off the fire with available resources but later called the civil aviation. The fire accidently triggered in the kitchen engulfed the whole house I minuets, the news report said.
