Six Indian Freed By Pirates Arrived India In Chears And Tears (PHOTOS)

New Delhi June 24, 2011 Six Indian Crew out of the twenty two freed by the Somalian sea pirates touched the Indian soil in cheers and tears after they alighted from an Emirates flight from Karachi via Dubai.

The 17,300 deadweight merchant vessel MV Suez with a cargo of cement bags from Karachi
was sailing for Eritrea under Captain Syed Wasi Ahmed of Pakistan.The vessel was taken over by Somali Sea Pirates in the Gulf of Aden on August 2, 2010. The crew comprised of 11 Egyptian, 6 Indians, 4 Pakistanis and 1 Sri Lankan.

The pirates settled on a ransom of 2.1 million US Dollar. The amount was raised  by Ansar Burney, Pakistani veteran philanthropist , HR activist and the MQM supported Sindh Governor Dr. Ishratul Ibad with other  social worker's support.

After their release, they were safely picked up by Pakistani war ship PNS Baber. They were later transferred to PNS Zulfiqar which reached Karachi Thursday afternoon. The Governor of Sindh, Dr Ishratul Ibad and Ansar Burney escorted the freed crew out of the navy ship in cheers, tears and clappings.
The Governor also hosted an official reception for the crew in the Governor house in the evening.
