Somali Pirates: Captives To Reach Pakistan This Month

Ansar Burney a human right activist and chairman of Ansar Burney trust International has said that Pakistani crew members of a ship taken hostage by the Somali pirates are likely to be freed this month.

The Somali pirates had raided a cargo ship MV Suez in Gulf of Aden on August 2-.2010. The ship was high jacked with 6 Indians, 1 Sri Lankan, 11 Egyptian and six Pakistanis.


Ansar Burney said that ransom money of $2.1 million has been transferred into the shipping company’s account. Arrangement to deliver the money to the pirates is under process.



Ansar Burney is in Cairo finalizing the deal and said final date and place of captive’s release can not disclosed due to security reasons. The Governor of Sindh, Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad, is keeping close touch with Ansar Burney for day to day progress of the case.
