Air India Fined $ 80,000 By US
Washington : A fine of 80,000 US Dollar has been imposed on the Indian Airline for not being able to post information regarding the customer services and tarmac delay contingency plans on its website , said a news paper report.

Ray LaHood, the transportation secretary of the department said on Thursday, “Our new airline consumer rules help ensure that passengers are fully informed about airline services and fees and what to expect if their flight is delayed on the tarmac,”
According to rule effective from August 2011, all foreign airlines carrying 30 or more passengers to any US airport are required to adopt and show their contingency plans for lengthy tarmac delays and customer service plans on their website.
The spokesman further said that American and foreign airlines with a website that sells tickets to U.S. consumers are required to include on their homepages a hyperlink that attracts viewers to the page showing the detail of fees for optional services including baggage fees the airline can charge, a news paper report said.
Further in the statement the spokesman said that Air India has so far failed in showing its customer service and tarmac delay contingency plans and the link of optional fees on the website as required under the regulation by the given date., the news report said.
